DEVISYS Ltd.

Devisys Ltd., founded in 1989, is a company producing and commercializing the work on non-slip devices begun at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Researcher Kai Nordlund designed a non-skid product that is easy to use and would help pedestrians in icy winter weather. Thus the Devisys heel stop cleat was born.

Inventor Kai Nordlund and his associates improved the basic design through the 1990's while concentrating on the Finnish market. At the turn of the decade Devisys Ltd. entered a marketing and distribution agreement with Nikander and Wiinikka Ltd. At the end of the decade, Kai Nordlund decided to concentrate on packaging industry and in 2001 Devisys Ltd. merged with Nikander and Wiinikka Ltd.

Devisys Ltd. continues to manufacture the original heel stop cleat. Export sales efforts started in the 1990's and are now an important business sector for the company. Today Devisys heel stops are used all over the world wherever demanding ice conditions can be found even in urban setting, e.g. in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Japan.
