The AreaRAE is a one- to five-sensor gas detector equipped with a wireless RF (radio frequency) modem which allows the unit to communicate and transmit readings and other information on a real-time basis with a remotely located base controller.

In stand-alone operation, the AreaRAE is a rugged, weather-resistant, portable monitor that can run over 24 hours on either rechargeable Lithium-ion or alkaline batteries. It is also the first “lunchbox”- type multi-sensor instrument able to include a photoionization detector (PID) for parts-per-million measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as well as LEL, O2 and up to two electrochemical toxic sensors to measure specific toxic substances such as CO and H2S.

The RF modem allows real-time data transmissions with a base controller located up to two miles away from the AreaRAE detector. A personal computer can be used as the base station for an AreaRAE system. The standard ProRAE Remote software used to control AreaRAE systems is capable of monitoring the input of up to 32 remotely located monitors.

The AreaRAE Steel Z1 is a one- to five-gas wireless monitor that delivers ATEX Zone 1 certification in an extremely rugged stainless steel enclosure designed for applications in harsh environments. The weather-resistant AreaRAE Steel Z1 is the benchmark against which portable wireless gas monitors are judged.

AreaRAE Steel Z1 combines a photoionization detector (PID) for parts-per-million measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with lower explosive limit (LEL) and oxygen sensors, plus two electrochemical toxic sensors for measuring specific substances such as hydrogen sulfide or chlorine. An integrated wireless modem allows the AreaRAE Steel to transmit real-time gas measurement data to a ProRAE Remote base station located up to 1.5 kilometers away.

The base station is a standard Windows based PC running ProRAE Remote software connected to a RAELink2 Host Modem. The base station can communicate with up to 12 AreaRAE Steel Z1s (or other AreaRAE-compatible monitors), providing a multi-threat detection network that can monitor a wide geographic area.

AreaRAE Steel Z1 monitors are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that deliver 18 hours of continuous operation.

The AreaRAE Steel Z1 is ideal for fast deployment during plant shutdowns or turn-around. AreaRAE Steel Z1 detectors can be used to quickly establish a working perimeter by setting out multiple monitors at strategic locations, then backing off to a position of safety to monitor readings over the wireless link.

The BadgeRAE personal gas detector provides 2 years of low-cost, continuous, and maintenance-free protection from exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) or Carbon Monoxide (CO).

The zero-maintenance BadgeRAE does not require calibration, but prudent safety procedure dictates periodic challenges with CO or H2S gas. Only the BadgeRAE provides a bump alert warning with a “Test” message on the display to remind users to “bump” the detector with gas to verify the performance of the sensor and electronics. This procedure is quick and easy and resets the “Test” message.

The MultiRAE Plus combines a PID (Photoionization Detector) with the standard four gases of a confined space monitor (O2, LEL, and two toxic gas sensors) in one compact monitor with sampling pump. Like the LeathermanTM tool, the MultiRAE Plus gets the job done in more circumstances than any other gas detector. With more than 10,000 units in the field today, its versatility makes it the gas meter of choice for some of the highest profile HazMat/WMD teams in the United States. The MultiRAE Plus is quickly and easily changed from a sophisticated technician instrument to a simple text-only monitor. The same monitor can be used as a personal monitor, a hand-held sniffer, or as a continuous operational area monitor.

The MultiRAE Plus detector can be made wireless with the use of RAELink2. This allows real-time monitoring information from the detector to be integrated into an existing AreaRAE system. A wireless, RF (radio frequency) modem allows detectors equipped with Firmware version 1.20 or higher to communicate and transmit readings and other information on a real-time basis with a remotely located AreaRAE base controller up to two miles away.
